Photo Book & Motion Graphics

Loneliness can be expressed in many ways, but I chose to express it through symbolism. Our topic for this semester is “What is Art For”, and we must show it by using photography and create a photo book with it. For me, I chose still life photography as still life can be a way to express emotions. For example, I can use a bunch of eggs and placed it in a row and one of the eggs is cracked which makes people feel it doesn’t belong to the group.This shows loneliness. Including symbolism in my still life photography and some design principles will make my photo book looks more interesting as well. For example, pattern and emphasis. Still life photography can be both aesthetic and unique as well. I got to know how to position my objects and my camera properly. As there is one saying “the objects and camera are dead but not the photographer” which means I can play around with the objects and camera to take a nice photograph. Compositions are quite fun and interesting to use and experimenting it gives you different types of ideas to put it into the photobook. Capturing photos in a way where I can express emotions with still life objects to allow people to think what kind of message I am trying to show.

I want to show that although someone may suffer from Autism and have difficulty explaining themselves, people can read body language to understand what they are feeling. Just like art, we need to look closer into details to understand messages. Because Autism is rising as the statistics state that the largest problem kids with Autism have is with behavioural problems and communication problems. I think that society should have more awareness and a better understanding of Autism because they are just like us but just that they communicate differently. My concept will be a mixture of two things, motion graphics and film. I am going to create a short film relating to Autism. Different types of shots like, “long shots, half-body shots, close-up shots” will be included in my video. Different kind of shots can show different kind of mood towards the film. I add in different kind of effects and transitions so that my video will look interesting.I have already created a storyboard to help plan out my video smoothly as well as helping me to understanding clearly.
